Breakfast Chef/Assistant Innkeeper

Primary Role: We are seeking to fill a dynamic role in our team, with the primary need being a part or full-time breakfast chef. This individual must have experience with food preparation and cooking, and ideally has experience working in fast-paced environments or food service operations. This role is responsible for planning and executing creative and delicious breakfast menus, shopping for and preparing ingredients, considering and working with allergies and dietary restrictions, and cooking for up to 30 people at a time.

Scheduling: We’re looking for someone with ample availability during the summer and fall of 2023 (and beyond), but are open to variations in availability. The ideal candidate for this role is a morning person, with a typical expectation of responsibilities between 7AM – 11AM on scheduled mornings, as well as some preparation time outside of the breakfast service window. Some weekend availability is required.

Additional Roles: The ideal candidate would join our team as a breakfast chef and also be involved in a broader capacity by taking on additional duties around the Inn. An assistant innkeeper would provide our full-time innkeeper with time off by taking over guest check-ins and phone calls at certain times. Bonus points for someone who has experience with and/or interest in other responsibilities like improving our social media presence, gardening and landscaping, housekeeping, event planning, etc.

Live-in Innkeeper

As a live-in innkeeper at the Friendly City Inn, you will have the opportunity to engage in a variety of activities to help ensure the satisfaction of guests and the success of the business.

The hours worked can vary, but whether full-time or part-time, this is a live-in, on site position. Housing in a spacious and updated 2-bedroom/2-bath apartment in the lower level of the B&B is included as part of the compensation package. This position will include being the “on-duty” innkeeper, which involves greeting and interacting with guests, check-ins/check-outs, taking reservations by phone, etc. Other responsibilities may include:

  • Housekeeping
  • Breakfast service
  • Landscaping/lawn maintenance
  • Marketing/social media projects
  • General property upkeep


This role presents an opportunity to learn all aspects of operating a bed and breakfast including marketing, operations, social media, networking, accounting, staff supervision, rate management, etc.
